Brown-belted bumblebee
The brown-belted bumblebee is a fluffy yellow and black bumblebee with a brownish band around its tummy. It is happy almost anywhere with flowers, from meadows to big city gardens. One was even seen near the top of the Empire State Building in New York.

The queen is the biggest, about 2.2 centimetres long. Workers can be smaller than 1 centimetre.
To keep the babies warm, bees wrap their bodies around the cocoons. Here even the boy bees help, which is rare.
Its nests are small, usually with fewer than 50 workers.
Unlike many bumblebees in North America, this one is doing well and is not getting rarer.
