Its green colour comes from a special green substance in its blood and body.
The male is not bright green like the female. He is dark olive green with red sides on his belly.
Young spiders are yellow brown at first and only turn green after their last skin change in spring.
The mother stitches a few leaves together to make a nest for her egg sac and guards it.
About 40 to 50 baby spiders hatch after around four weeks.
