The southern house spider is a large spider that likes to live in cracks around houses. The females are dark brown or black and stay hidden in their webs. The males are lighter brown with long legs and wander around. It is almost blind, so it finds its way by feel.

Fun fact: spiders are not insects. Insects have six legs, spiders have eight. Everyone calls them bugs anyway!

What does it eat?
It catches insects in a fuzzy, Velcro-like web that tangles their legs. The males also wander around hunting insects.
