The blue tiger is a big butterfly with dark wings covered in pale blue spots and stripes. The blue spots are a bit see-through, like stained glass. It loves sunshine and flies more when the light is bright.

In southern India, huge groups of blue tigers fly off on long journeys during the rainy season.
Those travelling groups are almost all boys.
The dark parts of its wings soak up the sun's warmth, which helps it fly.
The tiny new caterpillar can double its size in just two days.
In 2019 one blue tiger was found on the Balearic Islands in Spain, the first one ever seen in Europe.
