Rusty millipede
The rusty millipede is a long, round, reddish brown millipede, about as long as your finger. It has lots and lots of little legs and moves along slowly and smoothly. It loves damp places like rotting wood and compost heaps.

Its colour is a reddish brown, a bit like rust on old iron, which gives it its name.
In 2015 it became the very first millipede to have its whole genetic code read by scientists.
People have carried it around the world by accident, and now it lives all over South and Central Florida.
