Fun facts
The biggest workers can have heads about 12 times bigger than the smallest workers.
Small ants often ride on the backs of the big ants along the trail to save energy.
Sometimes they build roofs out of soil over their marching trails, like little tunnels.
If something blocks their path, the line gets all mixed up, until the ants find a new way around.
One nest can have up to 16 queens.
Most asked questions about Asian marauder ant
?What does the Asian marauder ant eat?
It hunts insects and other small animals, and also eats sweet plant juices, fruit and seeds.
?Is the Asian marauder ant an army ant?
No, but it looks a bit like one because it marches out in big groups. Unlike army ants, it has a nest that stays in one place.
?Why are the ants different sizes?
Each size has its own jobs. The small young workers look after the babies and take on more jobs as they get older.
