Chinese bird spider
The Chinese bird spider is a big, hairy tarantula from southern China and Vietnam. Its body is dark yellow-brown, with black stripes across its back end. It lives in a silk-lined burrow on steep mountain slopes.

The girl is one of the biggest spiders in Asia and may live up to 30 years.
Its legs can be about 7 centimetres long.
It spins silk lines out from the door of its burrow, like trip wires that tell it when something walks past.
It stays in its burrow all day and only comes out at night to hunt.
The boy's body is much smaller than the girl's, but his legs are almost as long.
