The giant Malaysian katydid is a huge green insect that looks just like a big leaf. It has long, thin legs and long wings shaped like leaves. It is the biggest katydid in the whole world.

It sings with its wings. It rubs a bumpy edge on one wing against a scraper on the other wing.
As it gets older, the tips of its wings turn brown like an old, rotting leaf. The more brown, the older it is.
It throws its poop as far away as it can, often into the next bush, so hungry animals cannot find it by smell.
Its loud chirp can scare away animals that want to eat it.
The mother lays her eggs in moss or rotting wood. The grown-up katydid lives for about 6 months.
