Jet ant

The jet ant is a shiny black ant with a big heart-shaped head and yellowish-brown legs. It builds its nest inside old hollow trees out of chewed wood, like cardboard. Long lines of these ants march along the same paths for months.

Its cardboard nest is made stronger by a fungus that grows in the walls. The ants feed the fungus, and the fungus holds the nest together.
